Former Defense Minister and Yamina Chairman Naftali Bennett referred to the spike in morbidity but called on the government not to tighten measures at this stage.
"In light of the data from the last two weeks, I call on the government: Wait. Don't tighten steps at this stage. Don't close restaurants and certainly not summer camps.
"The government must set up a system to cut off infection chains today, and wait until next Thursday to examine the trend. In light of the cumulative data of the last two weeks, it appears that there is a consistent inhibition in the doubling coefficient of both infectious and moderate and severe patients, which means that there is still an increase, but it is more moderate. From a doubling rate of 8-9 days in infected people, about two weeks ago, now the rate is about 18-19(!). A similar trend in the seriously ill, with a delay of several days."
