Official statistics from China show that the country has avoided recession, with moderate growth reported in the second quarter of 2020, The Guardian reports.
GDP rose by 3.2% between April and June, although retail sales dropped by 1.8% last month as compared to the same period last year.
Overall, the Chinese economy shrank by 1.6% over the last half year, given the worst-ever economic results on record during the first three months of 2020. Urban unemployment in June stood at officially 5.7%, down from 5.9% in May.
