The Palestinian Authority on Sunday has imposed a night-time and weekend curfew for the coming 14 days in an effort to curb the transmission of coronavirus, The Guardian reports, quoting Agence France-Presse.

Palestinian government spokesman Ibrahim Melhem told a news conference that, "Travel will be prohibited daily from 8pm to 6am in all governorates ... as well as from Thursday evening to Sunday morning."

Furthermore, Ramallah, Hevron, Shechem (Nablus) and Bethlehem, will be under total lockdown until Thursday evening, and travel between districts will be banned for two weeks. Weddings, funerals, and parties are also banned; only pharmacies and bakeries will be permitted to remain open.

Melhem added that Palestinians were also barred from going to work in Israeli settlements.

According to their official reports, there have been over 6,150 cases of Covid-19 in PA-controlled areas, and 33 deaths.
