Knesset Constitutional Committee Chairman MK Yaakov Asher criticized police conduct in enforcing coronavirus regulations: "It's impossible to save lives and destroy lives at the same time. The role of the police is to explain, deter, and ultimately enforce. Someone's turned things upside-down."

In discussing enforcement of coronavirus guidelines on children and special populations, the Committee Chairman added, "The harsh feelings among the haredi public are not about the presence of the police but about such cases and we want to put an end to this matter. I want to understand how things trickle down. We held hours of discussions on guiding the inspectors. Certainly, there's nothing intentional, but there can't be a crisis of confidence that there is today between certain communities and the police."
