The government approved the establishment of a ministerial committee to examine the use of the Shin Bet to reduce the spread of coronavirus, and it was decided that the person responsible for the issue would be Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen.
The committee will include Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn, and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.
The committee was set up over the Shin Bet Law, which was approved last week in second and third reading in the Knesset, whereby the Shin Bet will take part in curbing the spread of the coronavirus, and it was also established that a committee will be set up to examine the continued use of the Shin Bet and report to its government on its continued use.
