MK Sharren Haskel (Likud) has called on the government to take steps to ensure that Jewish farmers are able to protect themselves and their livestock and crops from attackers, and not leave them open to attack by thieves and marauders.

"A farmer who is trying to protect his land and his life needs assistance - he shouldn't be arrested," Haskel said. "Just a month ago, there was a serious terror incident in the Jordan Valley when vines were uprooted; before that, there was another incident in which date trees were uprooted. Our farmers are being left unprotected without the support of police.

"Agricultural terror affects farmers in the Negev, in the north and center of the country, and in Judea and Samaria," she noted. "We are obligated to enable them to defend themselves, and I call on the police to defend Israeli farmers and thoroughly investigate this incident."
