'First step in fight to reduce domestic violence incidence'

The Knesset plenum has pre-approved a bill stating that a woman can be alerted if her spouse who is under a restraining order approaches the area where she is.

"This is only the first step in the fight to reduce domestic violence incidence. I intend to continue to work to enable many women who are still in danger to live safely," Yesh Atid-Telem MK Orly Froman said.

Orthodox Jewish men's rights activists responded to the bill, calling it "More blatant sexism with an automatic assumption that the husband is always the perpetrator and the wife is always the victim, while all evidence shows that men's violence towards women takes place in similar proportions to the violence that women use against men in intimate relationships, in almost every culture and society that we know."
