The government has turned to the Supreme Court to appeal the low fine imposed on two defendants convicted of running a network of laboratories for the production of thousands of cannabis drug seedlings, weighing over 500 kilograms with a total value of over 17 million shekels.
The defendants, Tal Dror and Mauro Del Monte, were convicted as part of a plea bargain, after they admitted to having set up three cannabis production laboratories in apartments they rented for that purpose, in Petah Tikva, Rishon Lezion, and Tira.
In the three labs, 584.5 kilograms of drugs were seized, worth a total of 17,535,000 shekels. The defendants also stole electricity worth hundreds of thousands of shekels. The court sentenced each of the defendants to 45 months in prison and fined 125,000 shekels each.
