According to an article published in Yediot Aharonot, "The Likud party is planning an initiative according to which Benny Gantz will be the next President, and Binyamin Netanyahu will continue to serve as Prime Minister," instead of implementing the rotation agreement according to which Gantz is to become Prime Minister half-way through the government's term.

The article claims that Likud officials are saying that, "It doesn't make sense that someone with so much [political] power should hand over the leadership to someone who has no political base."
