A huge dust cloud originating in the Sahara desert is making its way over the Atlantic and parts of it have arrived in the Americas, the BBC reports.
Parts of Cuba and Mexico are already covered, with health authorities warning of possible respiratory problems due to the dust. Parts of Miami have also reported the dust arriving.
Such dust clouds form when strong winds over the Sahara whip up dust and sand, dragging the particles up to high altitudes and allowing them to be carried via air currents for thousands of miles.
