The S. Carolina City Council ordered the removal of a statue to former US Vice President John C. Calhoun in the city center yesterday.
The monument was taken down today and was the latest in a series of notable Americans including George Washington and Christopher Columbus to see their statues felled by anti-racism mobs in US cities.
