The world's #1 male tennis player, Serbian Novak Djokovic, said he was "extremely sorry" after a tournament he helped organize saw him and a number of other high-ranking players test positive for the virus.
Djokovic released a statement upon return to Serbia following the tournament, stating: Novak Djokovic tested positive for a virus COVID-19. Immediately upon his arrival in Belgrade Novak was tested along with all members of the family and the team with whom he was in Belgrade and Zadar. He is not showing any symptoms."
He went on to say he had organized the Adria Tour for south-east European players with no other means of participating in major tennis tourneys due to the ongoing pandemic and had been taken by surprise by the outcome.
