New data from the Robert Koch Institute in Germany has revealed that the R rate has risen to 2.88, up from 1.79 just a day earlier.

What this means is that on average, each coronavirus patient is passing on the virus to another 2.88 people.

Germany had reached a R rate of below 1 just a few weeks ago, but, like in many other countries, a relaxation of lockdown regulations has led to an increase in the number of virus cases.

The Institute noted that most recent outbreaks have been in nursing homes, hospitals, and asylum and refugee centers, as well as in various work settings.
