Cyprus has announced that it is open for tourism, with visitors from most countries not required to show a certificate of negative coronavirus status, The Guardian reports.

In order to provide a measure of safeguarding from the virus, spot checks will be conducted on around 15 percent of visitors. The Cypriot economy depends heavily on tourism and the government has seemingly bowed to economic pressure in opening up the country, risking its current status as one of the places with the lowest incidence of the virus.
