Quaker Oats has announced its plans to rename its Aunt Jemima line of products, "removing the image and changing the name ... as they are based on a racial stereotype," its chief marketing officer in North America said.

Kristin Kroepfl stated that the company is working "to make progress toward racial equality through several initiatives," and admitted that previous branding changes such as removing Aunt Jemima's kerchief had not been sufficient.

The BBC added that Quaker Oats (a subsidiary of PepsiCo) intends to donate around $5 million over the next five years to support the African-American community.
