A Russian court has ruled that Paul Whelan, a former Marine soldier, is guilty of spying for the United States and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
Whelan, who holds U.S., British, Canadian and Irish passports, has been in custody since being taken by FSB agents in December 2018.
