The Prime Minister's Office together with the Justice Ministry are formulating additions to the coronavirus regulations that are designed to clarify the issue of quarantine for citizens returning from abroad.
Due to the increasing number of flights operating in and out of Israel, the need for enhanced monitoring of the situation has intensified, in order to avoid a spike in coronavirus cases caused by new arrivals to the country.
The additional clauses in the law will stipulate that a person returning from abroad who is required to enter quarantine will only be permitted to self-quarantine in his own home after providing his home address and specifying the conditions of his quarantine, including a promise that he will not be using public transportation in order to reach his home. He will also be required to report to the Health Ministry.
If the government representative processing his arrival assesses that the person will not be able to comply with the conditions of quarantine, he will have the authority to demand that the person enter quarantine in a government-controlled location.
