A senior adviser to the British government has offered sharp criticism of the government's coronavirus response, The Guardian reports.

John Edmunds, who is a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, told the BBC that "We should have gone into lockdown earlier."

It is estimated that over 50,000 people have already died in the United Kingdom, a large percentage from retirement homes. Now that the number of new cases has dropped substantially, the country is beginning to ease lockdown regulations.
