A man arrested by Mexican police for not wearing a face mask has been found beaten to death, The Guardian reports. Relatives of Giovanni Lopez went to the police station to look for him, but were told that he had been taken to hospital. They found him there dead, with a bullet wound in his foot, but an autopsy revealed that he had died due to a blunt trauma to the head.
Footage from prior to the beating shows police officers armed with assault rifles forcing the 30-year-old man into a police truck, and bystanders pleading with them to release him. A police officer claimed that he had been attacked as he was "resisting."
