Dozens of protesters in Hong Kong marched through a shopping mall today, chanting pro-democracy slogans and holding banners that read "Hong Kong Independence," The Guardian reports.
Yesterday, thousands of Hong Kong residents held a vigil on the 31st anniversary of the Tiananmen Square attacks, even though police had banned the gathering. With China apparently planning to clamp down harder on the province it reacquired from the UK in 1999, the protests have gained a new level of importance.
