Head of the Hitorerut party on the Jerusalem City Council, Ofer Berkovitch, told Galei Zahal that Moshe Leon, Jerusalem's mayor, was giving preferential treatment to the city's haredim and hardalim (haredi-dati-leumi).

"This is a problem, that in the last two years, Leon has chosen to lead a sectoral coalition in which seven out of eight coalition members are either haredi or hardalim," Berkovitch said. "I love the haredi community, but they aren't the entire city. They are controlling planning, construction, and the city's finances," alleged Berkovitch, who challenged Leon for the position of mayor in 2018 and lost by about 6,000 votes.
