China decides against setting GDP target for 1st time in 31 years

According to a report in The Guardian, for the first time in 30 years China has decided against setting a GDP target, tacitly acknowledging the ongoing impact of the coronavirus.

Chinese Premier Li Kegiang told China's National People's Congress that given the "great uncertainty" for the future, China would "give priority to stabilizing employment and ensuring living standards." He added that officials should "tighten their belts" in the current situation.

Four new cases of coronavirus were reported in China in the last day.
