Education Minister Yoav Galant has responded to an incident that occurred in a school in Petah Tikva, in which a girl in second grade was told to enter class wearing undergarments only after her teacher refused to permit her to wear a sleeveless dress in breach of school uniform regulations.

"Adherence to ethical norms as well as the welfare of students should be the guiding principles of our educational system," Galant said. A statement issued by his office noted that the incident had been brought to the attention of the minister, who had ordered an inquiry to be made and the conclusions presented to the Director-General of the ministry, in order to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
