    Qatar: 3 years in prison for not wearing face mask in public

    Around 50 countries currently mandate wearing of face masks, The Guardian reports, but the consequences for being found without one vary quite wildly.

    In Qatar, a person spotted without a mask can now be imprisoned for up to three years and fined for as much as $55,000.

    More than 32,000 people have been confirmed as virus carriers in Qatar, which translates to around 1.2 % of the population.
