The Deutsche Welle German media outlet has reported that the rate of infection in Germany (R) has climbed over 1 after lockdown regulations were eased in recent weeks.
The report notes that as recently as last Wednesday, the Robert Koch Institute put Germany's R at 0.65; on Saturday, it revised the figure to 1.1.
"The rise of the estimated R-value makes it necessary to monitor the development very carefully in the coming days," a representative of the Institute said.
Typically, the impact of loosening regulations only begins to be felt around two weeks after the change in policy.
