Tens of thousands of people arrived Monday evening to recite the central Selichot penitential prayers at the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem's Old City.
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation says more than one million men and women have visited the holy site in the last month. A statement by the foundation said, "Every year the number of worshipers at the Western Wall during the Days of Awe rises. The sight of the tens of thousands who fill the Western Wall plaza at night during this special week is an unforgettable experience."
