Rafiq Halabi, head of the Daliyat Al-Carmel Local Council, has dismissed the government's draft of a solution to the Nationality Law crisis, according to Maariv.
Halabi said, "In the document that we received, there is nothing. The moment we come to solve a crisis, we do not solve it with another crisis. We do not solve injustice with injustice. We have to cancel the national law and insert the principle of equality. Whoever wants to compromise can compromise. I, as an Israeli citizen, have principles." He concluded, "It cannot be that Jews are in first place and Druze are second. After that they'll make a basic law for the Bedouin and the LGBT. This is not how a country that thinks about the civic equality of its citizens behaves."
