A committee from the Ministries of Finance and Energy and the Water Authority has completed a process to purchase additional quantities of water from the desalination plants in Palmachim, Soreq, Ashkelon and Hadera.
According to the Water Authority's models and forecasts, the current winter is expected to see a continuation of a rare four-year drought. The state is expected to purchase 75 million cubic meters (MCM) by the end of 2018, of which 8 MCM will already be in 2017.
