The United Nations is calling on its member countries to give almost half a billion dollars in order to provide humanitarian aid to Iraq. The highlighted mission will provide food, water, shelter, and other assistance to over 8 million people.

According to Lise Grande, the UN's humanitarian coordinator for Iraq, "more than 50 percent of the operation will be shut down or cut back if money is not received immediately."

According to UN estimates, 10 million Iraqis could be in need of aid by the end of 2015.
