Woodside Petroleum Limited, Australia's second largest gas producer, will acquire a 30-percent interest in the Leviathan natural-gas field off Israel's Mediterranean coast, according to a Monday-morning report by Bloomberg. A statement by the company said it would and initial payment of $696 million for the stake.

The other partners in the deal are Noble Energy, Delek Drilling, Avner Oil Exploration LP and Ratio Oil Exploration. The field is estimated to contain 17 trillion cubic feet of gas.
