Israeli Professor Daniel Shechtman’s earning the Nobel Prize for Chemistry shows the importance of higher education, said MK Zev Elkin, head of the Knesset Lobby for Higher Education. Shechtman is a professor at the Technion in Haifa.
“When an Israeli researcher wins the Nobel Prize, it’s a reminder of the importance of our investment in higher education and in teaching science, in order to ensure the existence of a future generation of researchers,” Elkin explained.
