IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz spoke Wednesday at the Or Etzion Yeshiva, and in part of his address, defended Judea and Samaria Commander Brig.-Gen. Nitzan Alon.

“In recent weeks we have seen an attack by an extremist minority on Division Commander Nitzan Alon. Alon is an officer with much to his credit, who has dedicated and continues to dedicate his life to the security of Israel and its citizens,” he said.

Relations between Alon and Judea and Samaria Jews have gone downhill recently, particularly after it was discovered that Alon targeted IDF soldiers from the region for investigation. Rabbi Menachem Froman recently called to honor Alon and avoid conflict.
