Knesset Education Committee Chairman Alex Miller (Yisrael Beiteinu) said Wednesday that he would convene an emergency meeting regarding controversial Islamic Sheikh Raed Salah's Tel Aviv University speech, Israel Radio reported.
According to Miller, the sheikh has asked the finance Mministry to take action against the university.
Sheikh Salah spoke to hundreds of students at Tel Aviv University, after Haifa University had refused to allow him to speak following protests on the campus. Among other issues, Sheikh Salah had called for liberation of Jerusalem from Israeli authority and criticized United States President Barack Obama's call for a Palestinian Authority state on 1949 armistice lines with land swaps, saying that such land swaps mean an expulsion of Arabs.
