Former Tunisian President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has been charged with killing protesters during the recent uprising in the country. According to the charges, Ben Ali and his wife personally ordered troops to open fire on protesters, killing some, when they prevented his nephew, Kais Ben Ali, from fleeing the central Tunisian town of Ouardanine. Over a dozen of the security guards are to be charged as well.
