Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameini on Saturday stressed his constitutional right to veto any of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's decisions that threaten national interests, DPA reported. Khameni made his comments from a state address before hundreds of Iranian citizens.
Khameni's remarks came a week after he vetoed Ahmadinejad's decision to replace Iran's intelligence chief, Heudar Moslehi. According to the Iranian consitution, Khameini has the final say on all state affairs.
According to a recent Associate Press report, Khameni is believed to be formulating a new political team absent of many Ahmadinejad loyalists to lead the next government.
