The National Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Bureau today issued a warning Sunday that "Following the events in the Gaza Strip, terrorist elements intend to perpetrate attacks against Israelis and Jews overseas ahead of – and during – the Passover holiday, in the Mediterranean Sea basin and in the Far East."

The statement recommended that travellers to these areas be highly sensitive and aware at tourist sites and venues, vary their daily routines by changing regular itineraries, restaurants, tourist venues and hotels, and avoid places frequented by large numbers of Israelis. The bureau also recommended that travellers decline unexpected and tempting business or other proposals, as well as unexpected invitations to meetings, especially in remote locales or at night; and avoid admitting suspicious or unexpected visitors into hotel rooms or residences.
