A protest was held in Jerusalem near the official residence of the Prime Minister marking 1,700 days since the kidnapping of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. Police allowed the crowd to take over a portion Gaza Street on Saturday night as speakers called for his release. In addition, a Shabbat dinner was held on the sidewalk in the tent which has been set up for the past 5 years since Hamas abducted the soldier along the border with Gaza.

Israeli musicians Barry Sakharoff and Amir Lev attended the demonstration as did Shalit's parents and other family members. People held homemade signs reading "Gilad is a son to all of us."
