Former Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati is the likely candidate to head Lebanon's opposition.

Mikati is known for his tendency to support Syria and Hizbullah, but he is not as extreme as Omar Karami who is Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah's preferred candidate.

Nasrallah himself has said that the world must respect any candidate selected by the Lebanese people.
