Former Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Reagan administration, Lawrence Korb, wrote in an article in the Jerusalem Post on Monday that the life sentence handed down to Jonathan Pollard was usually reserved for Soviet spies during the Cold War. He said the average sentence for spying for a friendly nation is 7 years with only 4 years served.
Former CIA Director James Woolsey has also said that Pollard's sentence was unjust.
