South African Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu endorsed on Wednesday the Olympia Food Co-op's decision to boycott Israeli products, issuing a statement detailing his reasons, calling the Co-op's move "courageous" and encouraging other businesses and shoppers to follow suit.

The Co-op has reportedly received support from many individuals and organizations worldwide since its July 15 decision, including Mairead Maguire, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who participated in one of last month's Gaza flotillas, and Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, one of the Washington Post’s 50 Top Rabbis in the United States.
