The Birthright organization which brings young Jews aged 18-26 to Israel for a free ten day trip is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a record breaking summer in which it plans to bring over some 21,000 young Jews. Birthright has a budget of $80 million this year, a large part of which comes from Jewish philanthropist Sheldon Adelson.
Since its founding in the year 2000, Birthright has brought over a quarter of a million young Jews who have never been to Israel. 40,000 young Israelis have also taken part, showing their fellow Jews around Israel.
