President Shimon Peres is now an organ donor, after having signed a card from the Adi organization, which coordinates volunteers for organ transplants with Israeli hospitals. Peres signed the card during a ceremony Tuesday night attended by 250 individuals who have undergone transplants.
"Hundreds of people whose lives are in the balance are waiting, carrying an almost impossible burden, for their fate to be sealed," Peres said. "They and their families sit between hope and despair. One way to help them is to perform a simple act of signing a donor card from Adi, an act that carries no danger or extra effort," Peres said.
