It's okay to detest Geraldo

There’s no getting rid of him, no pest repellant to be found. Wherever you turn, from this channel to the next – there he his, and it’s no use leaving town and country, no use escaping from one continent to another; he will find you. Geraldo Rivera is a man who has done everything, on radio and TV, yet has talent for nothing.

There has never been a time without Geraldo…somewhere and everywhere. For sure he was even there as part of the Exodus from Egypt, marching, no doubt, with Korach or with the multitudes who mixed in with the Hebrews, Geraldo quickly in step, we imagine, with the Puerto Rico contingent. He claims to be Jewish, but he can’t even get that right.

Over at Fox News, his latest gig, he’s been pitching his Israel hatred as he once hawked his Al Capone caper…each case meant to mislead, to tease and to deceive.

A Haman for our time, whom we are compelled to detest.
Currently, he’s cheerleading Hamas Palestinian Arabs who come each week to murder Jews, a fine thing if you ask Geraldo. But even without asking, just the other day, he announced himself favorable to the Second Arab Intifada, in which more than 1,000 Israelis were killed, regrettable only, he says, that he missed out on the action, from the Arab side of things.

Read it here as he says, “I regret in 2002 backing down from backing the Palestinians in their conflict with Israel…” In short, he’s on a tear demonizing and cursing the Jewish State.

A Haman for our time, whom we are compelled to detest.

Regrets, he’s had a few, or so you’d think. But from failure to failure, over some 50 years, Geraldo manages to pick himself up and botch things up all over again.

Yet they keep hiring him…as when pretending to be a war correspondent he got it awfully wrong in Afghanistan and worse in Iraq. Wikipedia has the info.

Over the decades, he pretended to be a reporter, a talk show host, a celebrity for hire; heck, whatever gets him on camera with that mustache-eating grin to kill the ladies. In his “new book” he reveals his feud with Megyn Kelly on Roger Ailes and sexual harassment – but I’d rather you buy my sizzler on the entire subject – “News Anchor Sweetheart.”

Back in the 1980s, Geraldo came up empty again, enough to end the career of any other reporter/celeb, but not Geraldo. Never Geraldo. That was the story of Al Capone’s Vault, and as I remember it, we were told that one day Geraldo would reveal its secrets and when that day came – America in breathless anticipation – it revealed nothing.

Was it all a hoax, a prank, a promise unfulfilled? Either way, America was duped, and after that, many of us thought, no way he keeps his job. He had us taken for a ride.

But there have always been other jobs for Geraldo, which proves, as I keep saying, that luck is everything, and that you don’t need talent to succeed.

You don’t need anything to succeed. You only need to be Geraldo.

These days Geraldo is on Fox News, pretending to be a news analyst and what makes it a sin is that there are people who still follow him and believe him.

Otherwise why would Fox News hire him?

Through his ill-gotten fame, he has the means to influence the trusting, the star-struck and the uninitiated and that’s what makes him dangerous and unforgiveable.
