The Treaty of Catastrophe and the Secret Side Agreement
The Treaty of Catastrophe and the Secret Side Agreement

The nuclear agreement signed on July 14, 2015, with Iran is a catastrophe. The treaty ends the international sanctions regime against Iran, and permits Iran to develop advanced centrifuges. It does not stop the creation of nuclear weapons by Iran, but plans to slow Iran down. It removes obstacles to ballistic missiles and makes the technology attainable. It enables Iran to become a nuclear weapon capable power, and allows Iran to reach anywhere in the world with its missiles. It will also get the ayatollahs $150 billion.

Under the treaty, Iran will have access to the international conventional arms market, and will be able to purchase and develop missile systems. Iran is entitled to have access to intelligence information leading to suspicions that the Iranians are cheating. Iran will have 24 days of advance notice before inspections of suspected nuclear sites. In 10 years, limitations on its nuclear program will be removed. The treaty compels the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to assist Iran in protecting its nuclear facilities against sabotage or other forms of attack.

There are also “secret side agreements” between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These concern past nuclear activities and inspections of military facilities, where Iran has been suspected of testing nuclear detonation devices. These side deals are secret, and will be kept secret. According to the Obama administration, it is “standard practice” for such IAEA deals to remain secret.

Obama’s actions in the Middle East have not been about stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, but stopping Israel from stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
This treaty is not standard practice. It is the most important international agreement of our time. Barack Obama called it a “historic diplomatic breakthrough.” Yet, Congress is asked to ratify it without knowing the full nature of the inspection regime. Congress does not know what points are in the side deals, but Iran knows. Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iran’s dictator, declared, “Entry into our military sites is absolutely forbidden.”

Obama’s actions in the Middle East have not been about stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, but stopping Israel from stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons. His years-long negotiations with Iran allowed time to multiply, disperse, and fortify Iran’s nuclear facilities. His administration’s leakage of Israel’s secret agreement with Azerbaijan sabotaged Israeli attempt to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities. Azerbaijan would have allowed Israeli warplanes to refuel during attacks on the nuclear facilities.

Benjamin Netanyahu asked in his March 2015 address to Congress, “Would Iran be less aggressive when sanctions are removed and its economy is stronger?... Would Iran fund less terrorism when it has mountains of cash to fund more terrorism?” Evidently, it would not.

Even if Iran complies with its obligations, the treaty will empower and enrich a tyrannical regime devoted to the destruction of America and Israel.

In his meeting with American Jewish leaders after the agreement was signed, Obama said that if the community criticizes him it will weaken the American Jewish community and, as a result, it will weaken the US-Israel relationship.

Obama, in his American University speech on August 5, 2015, said that the only alternative to the treaty is war because sanctions will never deter the Iranians. He said sanctions do not work, yet he said, under the treaty, the Iranians would now be deterred from cheating by the threat of sanctions.

Obama stated that among all the nations of the world, only Israel opposes the treaty. It follows that the American Jews that oppose the treaty are traitors who care more about Israel than America. By casting aspersions on the character and the motives of opponents, he wanted to end debate on the merits of his treaty to force Democrats to support it. He said, “It’s those hardliners chanting death to America who have been most opposed to the deal. They’re making common cause with the Republican caucus." This would make the Republican caucus treasonous, if it were true. Whereas, the death-to-America people are fully behind the treaty, they will get “Death to America” and $150 billion.

The Death-to-America hardliners are not on the fringe of Iranian society as Obama intimated. They are the government. The entire state apparatus of Iran from the Supreme Leader to the Revolutionary Guards have been applauding, encouraging, and propagating “Death to America” for decades.

Obama has been appeasing Iran since he took office. From the beginning of his administration, he stated his willingness to talk to Iran “without preconditions,” willing to ignore U.S. property claims against Iran, and Iran’s funding, providing equipment, weapons, training and giving sanctuary to terrorists. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, America imposed sanctions against Iran and expanded them in 1995 to include firms dealing with the Iranian government. The revolution replaced a pro-Western monarchy with an anti-Western authoritarian theocracy. American assets were confiscated. Fifty-two American diplomats and citizens were held hostage for 444 days. Americans saw the hostage taking as an egregious violation of international law that granted diplomats immunity, and diplomatic compounds inviolability.

In the 2009 Iranian presidential elections protests, Obama squandered an opportunity to undermine the government established by Ayatollah Khomeini three decades before.  Obama resisted pressure to side with opposition to the regime of the mullahs as mass protests continued in Iran over the disputed presidential poll.

The Iranians have been conducting a rogue nuclear weapons program in defiance of many Security Council resolutions of its illegality, backed by embargoes and sanctions. Obama rewards them with a deal that legitimizes their nuclear program, lifts the embargo on ballistic missiles and conventional weapons, gets them $150 billion, and grants them unlimited selling of oil and full access to the international financial system.

Secretary of State John Kerry said it would be Israel’s fault if the deal goes down. Since the administration threatens that rejecting the deal will cause war, Kerry is threatening that the administration will blame Israel if war breaks out.

Kerry and others indicating that the only alternative to the administration’s pretense of controlling Iran’s capacity to develop nuclear weapons is war, ignore that Israel bombed Iraq’s nuclear facilities in 1981 and Iraq did not declare war.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s dictator, has the final say on how that $150 billion is spent, and he has been clear about how he intends to use the money. In back to back anti-American rants after the agreement was signed, he repeatedly threatened America and extolled calls for its destruction. He refused to commit to uphold the treaty, but promised to continue to fund and sponsor terrorism, and proxy wars.

Before his inauguration, Obama told a crowd of cheering supporters: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” His fundamental transformation includes American foreign policy.

Obama alienated America’s friends and emboldened America’s enemies. The famous “reset” in American foreign policy with Russia began with his administration reneging on a pre-existing American commitment to supply defensive technology to shield Poland and the Czech Republic from missile attacks. He surrendered Iraq, in whose cause so many young Americans died, to America’s enemy, Iran. He intervened in Libya and Egypt, undermining governments that were no threat to American interests, leading to terrorist chaos in Libya that got an American ambassador and three others killed, and Islamic extremists taking over in Egypt. Fortunately, contrary to Obama’s foreign policy, the Egyptian military got rid of the extremist government that aligned itself with America’s enemies, persecuted Christians, and threatened Israel.

Americans oppose leaving their children and grandchildren at the mercy of a nuclear power Iran, at the mercy of people that have demonstrated repeatedly that they have no mercy. This treaty guarantees Iran will become a nuclear weapon capable power after 10 years, and permits Iran to purchase and develop intercontinental ballistic missiles that will enable Iran to have the means to achieve its highest goal: “Death to America.” This is why Americans oppose it, and it is why Democrats in Congress must refuse to ratify it.

The Iran nuclear agreement is a catastrophe. It is a treaty of friendship with Obama's new ally in fundamentally transforming America, the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

The destruction of Israel is just a “secret side agreement.”
