This morning (Tuesday) the conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the largest inter-parliamentary organization in the world incorporating 179 parliaments including the Knesset, gathered at the Moroccan parliament to discuss the subject of inter-religious dialogue.

The Israeli delegation to the conference, led by MK Danny Danon, a senior member of the ruling Likud party, Chairman of the World Likud, and Israel's Former Ambassador to the United Nations, will hold meetings in the coming days with many parliament representatives, including representatives from Arab countries, with the aim of strengthening ties between countries. Joining MK Danny Danon in the delegation from Israel are MK Elazar Stern, MK Yifat Sasha-Biton and MK Dan Illouz.

MK Danon said at the conference: "Religion and faith are an important dimension of our identity, values and the decision-making processes of individuals and communities which create connections between countries. Long years of thorough work behind the scenes, which I had the honor to be a part of as Israel's ambassador to the UN, led to the signing of the historic Abraham Accords that are changing the face of the Middle East."

"Even now, we continue to work diligently to create close ties, connections and collaborations between Israel and the countries of the region. Despite the challenges of our current times, the Israeli delegation to the IPU will continue with our efforts to strengthen these relations. The relationship between Israel and moderate Arab countries is natural and will continue to develop and grow in the future," Danon said.

The IPU Conference for Interfaith Dialogue brought together political leaders with representatives of global organizations and civil society, including think tanks, research, religious scholars and other experts, with the aim of sharing best practice around some of the key issues facing societies.
