US Air Force fighter jets and B-1B Lancer bombers flew over the waters east of North Korea on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, US and South Korean military jets carried out practice bombing raids.
According to the Pentagon, the exercises demonstrated the range of military options available to US President Donald Trump.
Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said, "This is the farthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) any US fighter or bomber aircraft have flown off North Korea’s coast in the 21st century, underscoring the seriousness with which we take [North Korea‘s] reckless behavior."
"This mission is a demonstration of U.S. resolve and a clear message that the President has many military options to defeat any threat.
"We are prepared to use the full range of military capabilities to defend the U.S. homeland and our allies."
On Sunday, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said, "If North Korea keeps on with this reckless behavior, if the United States has to defend itself or defend its allies in any way, North Korea will be destroyed. And we all know that, and none of us want that."
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called on "all nations" to "work together to isolate the Kim regime until it ceases its hostile behavior."
On Friday, Trump tweeted that "Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who is obviously a madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people, will be tested like never before!"
