MK Rabbi Yisrael Eichler, chairman of the United Torah Judaism party, sent a protest letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, following the overnight raid of Migron on Sunday night and the demolition of three homes in the community.
“Among other things, we are appalled by the conduct of officials in the State Attorney’s office and in the Civil Administration, who rushed in the dead of night to appeal the court order delaying the demolition,” Rabbi Eichler wrote Netanyahu, adding that these actions “proved once again that they do not consider the rule of law but rather the joy of destruction of communities in Judea and Samaria.”
“We are convinced it was possible to prevent the demolition of the homes and more importantly – we can and must prevent the demolition of other houses in Migron in particular and in Judea and Samaria’s Jewish communities in general,” Rabbi Eichler continued.
At the end of the letter Rabbi Eichler asks Netanyahu “to guide the professional ranks to exhaust every possible legal solution in order to ensure that there will be no more political destructions and using legal tools for political needs.”
Earlier on Tuesday, members of the grassroots residents’ councils of Binyamin and Samaria stood outside the Supreme Court to protest the Migron destruction.
The protesters put up large custom-made signs. One said – “A family is thrown into the street – by Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the Jewish government.”
Another was written in Arabic and said “Dorit, thank you for the building of the Arab nation.” It referred to the current president of the Supreme Court, Judge Dorit Beinisch.
