Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif slammed US President Donald Trump’s recent speech at the UN General Assembly, emphasizing how “insulting” he found it.

“This was the most insulting statement that had ever been made by any US president against Iran since the Revolution,” Zarif said in a podcast released by Politico yesterday, Monday.

“[It’s] certainly one of the worst and most negative statements ever made against Iran in the General Assembly by anybody,” he added.

He asserted that Iran would not renegotiate the deal; rather, if Trump tried to bring about the deal’s collapse, Iran would consider everything - from “walking away from the deal to somehow accommodating Europe.”

Trump has been outspoken in his opposition to the Iran deal. During his speech at the UN, he called it “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into” and “an embarrassment to the United States.”

“I don’t think you’ve heard the last of it. Believe me,” he said, warning that he planned to take action against the deal.

Trump must certify to Congress Iran’s compliance with the deal on October 15. If he chooses not to, Congress must decide on further action to be taken against Iran.
