An Israeli Arab man was shot dead Sunday morning in a drive-by shooting attack on the road between Sansana and the Meitar checkpoint in the southern Judean Hills.

A large presence of IDF forces and Magen David Adom medics arrived at the scene, several miles south of Jerusalem, and provided first aid to the critically-injured victim, before evacuating him to the Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.

Doctors were unable to save him however and he succumbed to his injuries.

The IDF initially thought the incident was a terror attack, but reports now indicate the the shooting was of a criminal nature.

The victim, a man in his 40s, has been identified as a resident of the Bedouin town of Hura in the Negev. Police believe the shooting may have been a revenge killing in response to a murder which took place in Hura on Friday.

Earlier on Sunday morning, a 21-year-old Israeli soldier was lightly injured in a stabbing attack near the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.

A security guard overpowered the terrorist until police forces arrived to detain him.
