An Israeli soldier was stabbed shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday morning on HaTzvi Street in Jerusalem, close to the Central Bus Station.

He was lightly injured in the attack and suffered stab wounds to the upper body.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics treated the soldier at the scene before evacuating him to Hadassah Medical Center in the capital. He arrived there fully conscious, stable and in light condition.

MDA medics Eldad Benstein and Nir Buzaglo recounted: "Lying on the sidewalk was a fully conscious 21-year-old. Bystanders had tried to help him and stop the bleeding. He was suffering from a stab wound in his upper body."

"We moved him to an intensive care ambulance and evacuated him to the hospital. We gave him life-saving medical treatment and delivered him, in moderate and stable condition."

The terrorist was neutralized and taken into custody. A security guard who witnessed the stabbing overpowered the terrorist until police forces arrived to detain him.

Jerusalem District Police commander Moshe Edri praised the "alertness and resourcefulness of the guard along with his rapid and determined reaction in preventing a larger attack near the Central Bus Station."
